Stock Token gifts

Give a company's Stock Token as a gift card, paid privately in shielded ZEC. Whoever opens the link first claims the Stock Token.

A Stock Token gift is a gift card that holds a company's Stock Token on Robinhood Chain instead of ZEC. You choose the Stock Token and the amount in dollars, pay from your account's Ironwood pool, and send the link. Whoever opens the link first claims the Stock Token, to a ZATS Market account or to any address on Robinhood Chain.

Not for U.S. persons

Stock Tokens are offered only outside the United States. You confirm that neither you nor the person the card is for is a U.S. person before you pay, and the person who claims it confirms it again.

What a Stock Token card is

  • A wallet of its own. The app makes a new wallet on Robinhood Chain for each card, in your browser. Any wallet that restores a seed phrase can open it.
  • The link is the card. The card's secret sits in the part of the link after #. Browsers never send that part to a server, so ZATS never sees it.
  • Paid in shielded ZEC. Your ZEC is swapped into ETH, which is sent straight to the card's own address. The card then buys its Stock Token itself.
  • It pays its own gas. A little ETH rides on the card for its own transactions. What they do not use goes to the person who claims it, with the Stock Token.

Before you send one

  • An account in ZATS Market, unlocked in this browser. See your account.
  • Enough shielded ZEC in Ironwood for the card and the network fee. To add ZEC, make a deposit.

Send a Stock Token card

Choose the Stock Token

Open Stock gifts. Search by ticker or company, pick a Stock Token, then set the amount in dollars and write the message. The card takes the company's ticker and colour.

Pay for it

Check the gift, the Stock Token, about how much of it the amount buys, and what the swap costs. Tick the box to confirm that neither of you is a U.S. person, type your password, then select Pay.

Copy the link, show its QR code, or share it. Send it only to the person the card is for.

The link works at once, but the card fills in steps: the payment leaves Ironwood, the swap delivers the ETH to the card within minutes, and the card buys its Stock Token. Keep ZATS Market open while it does. If you close it, the card finishes the next time you unlock your account. If the person opens the link before the card has bought its Stock Token, the claim buys it first.

The card appears under Your Stock Token cards in Stock gifts, and in Transactions under Gift cards, with its state: sending, swapping, buying, waiting, then claimed or taken back.

The link is the Stock Token

Anyone who has the link can claim the card, and the first one to claim it wins. Send it through a channel you trust, and ask the person to claim it soon.

Claim a Stock Token card

The link opens a page of its own, with the card, what it holds and what that is worth. It needs no app and no account.

  1. Open the link. The page reads the card from Robinhood Chain.
  2. Under Send it to, choose My ZATS account to send it to this browser's account, or Another wallet and paste an address on Robinhood Chain that you hold the keys to.
  3. Tick the box to confirm you are not a U.S. person.
  4. Select Claim. The card sends its Stock Token, then the ETH its gas did not use.

If the page says the card is still being filled, its swap has not delivered yet. The page checks again by itself.

Take a card back

While nobody has claimed a card, you can take it back. Open the card from Your Stock Token cards and select Take it back. What the card holds goes to your account's address on Robinhood Chain. If the person claims it first, nothing changes.

What stays private

  • The payment. You pay in shielded ZEC from Ironwood, so nobody can link the card to your account.
  • At ZATS. ZATS never sees the card's secret. Your copy of it is sealed under your account.

What does not stay private:

  • The card's address, its Stock Token, the amount and the address it is claimed to are public on Robinhood Chain.
  • The issuer of a Stock Token can freeze it, block an address and take it back, as with any Stock Token.
  • The amount and the message are inside the link. Anyone who sees the link can read them.
