Paying and following a purchase
How you pay from Ironwood, why Pay stays closed, how the app follows a purchase, and what Transactions and My items show.
You pay for every purchase in ZATS Market with shielded ZEC from your account's Ironwood pool. This page covers what every category shares. Each category's page covers its own steps: eSIM, AI credit, VPN, servers, domains and proxies.
How you pay for a purchase
A purchase takes shielded ZEC from Ironwood, the pool the app spends from.
- Prices are in dollars. Before you pay, the app shows the amount in ZEC with the network fee.
- ZEC in Sapling or at the transparent address does not pay. To add ZEC to Ironwood, make a deposit or send ZEC to your Ironwood address.
- Each payment asks for your password. Your browser builds and proves the payment, and no key or recovery phrase leaves it.
- The app stores the payment in this browser before it sends it. It sends the payment once a node answers.
Why Pay is closed
When Pay is closed, one line under it says why. The line gives the first reason that applies, and the table lists the reasons in that order. The exact words differ from one category to the next.

Two states replace the form instead of closing Pay:
- With no account in this browser, the form points you to the Account page.
- With the account locked, a panel says Your account is locked. Select Unlock, type your password, and the page carries on.
One payment from Ironwood at a time
The app pays from Ironwood one payment at a time. Until the scan sees the ZEC of an earlier payment as spent, the network would refuse a second payment built on the same ZEC. So a new purchase waits for every earlier withdrawal and purchase to settle. If one is still settling when you select Pay, the app says so: try again in a few minutes.
Follow a purchase
After you pay, the app shows the purchase's tracker: the panel that follows it step by step. The purchase also gets its own page in Transactions.
- The status says where the purchase stands. A line gives the time you paid, and later how long the purchase took.
- The wait clock shows how long you have waited, how long it usually takes, and about how much time is left. Past the usual wait, it says: "Taking longer than usual. Nothing is lost: it keeps going."
- Each step shows its state. The working step says what it waits for and how long that usually takes. A finished step says how long it took.
- View opens the payment on a Zcash block explorer.
The app moves a purchase on while your account is unlocked, on any page of the app. If the account locks, unlock it and the purchase carries on. For an eSIM and AI credit, the next step waits for the app. For a VPN, a server, a domain and proxies, the provider or ZATS keeps working meanwhile, and the tracker catches up when you unlock. Nothing is lost while it waits.
When a payment does not go out
Some failures happen before the ZEC leaves Ironwood. The message then says that nothing was paid, or that nothing left your account, and gives the reason. Read the reason before you try again.
Transactions
Transactions lists every deposit, withdrawal and purchase of the account, newest first. The phone's tab bar calls it Activity.
- All, Deposits, Withdrawals and Purchases filter the list. The filter is part of the page's address, so a reload keeps it.
- Each row opens the transaction's own page: its tracker, what it is and when it started, and All transactions to go back.
- A deposit that nobody paid yet opens on its one-time address, with its QR code and Change amount.
- Transactions lists a refund brought home with the deposits.
Status words in Transactions
Each row in Transactions carries a status in words.

| Waiting for payment | A deposit's one-time address that nobody paid yet. It is the one status that asks something of you. |
| In progress | The steps are still running. |
| Refunded | A step could not complete, and the money came back to the account. |
| Failed | A step failed. The transaction's page gives the reason. |
| No word from the rail | The conversion has not reported for a long time. The page shows what the chain holds. |
| Address closed | A one-time address whose deadline passed unpaid. |
Purchases carry their own status words, such as Ready to install for an eSIM.
My items
My items lists what the account bought, without failed purchases. Each item opens its own page with what you need to use it, such as an eSIM's activation code or an AI key. Unlock the account to see its items.
Where the app keeps your history
The app keeps the account's history in this browser. While the account is unlocked, it also files the history on ZATS's server, under the account's address.
- Your browser seals each record before it leaves. Only your recovery phrase, the twelve words that are your account, can open it.
- The server reads the account's address, the kind of record, an identifier and when the record last changed. It cannot read the record itself.
- The server stores no recovery phrase, no key and no password.
- When the account unlocks, your browser signs a message with the account's key. The server opens a session from that signature, and only that session can read or write the account's records. Filing the history therefore never asks for your password.
- When you import the same recovery phrase, in this browser or another one, the history comes back.
